The reason for this error message is you have more than one script manager in the page. So remove the extra scriptmanager controls

To correct the problems please consider the following steps

2. Check the masterpage if theire is scriptmanager

Jquery.js and prototype.js

You may be using jQuery.js and prototype.js in same html file in such case the confusion will come to the program if you are using '#' to identify jquery objects. So you replace '#' with 'jQuery' and get solve the issue

The reasons for this error message may be.

1. You use an iframe element in a Web page that points to another Web page
from a different domain.

2. The Web page from a different domain uses ASP.NET AJAX server controls.
You perform an action in the iframe element that triggers an
asynchronous postback operation.

3. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, you click to select the following
check boxes under Browsing on the Advanced tab in Internet Options:

Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)

Disable script debugging (Other)

This problem occurs because the Web page that contains the iframe element and the Web page to which the iframe element points are in different domains. The AJAX 1.0-enabled ASP.NET script fails when it tries to determine the offset of the content.

To resolve this error follow the below steps

1. Make sure that the Web page that contains the iframe element and the
Web page to which the iframe element points are in the same domain.

2. Update the JavaScript files to avoid the error message. Use the external script files that exist in the AJAX Library package instead of the resource-based files that exist in the AJAX Extension package.

I have done a web application in asp.net 2.0

and hosted on my web server UK

Later i integrated ajax into it now i am getting

In visual studio when trying add web reference to a web service you may receive the following error message

There was an error downloading 'http://WebServerName/WebServicePath/WebServiceName'. The operation has timed-out.

Or when using ipaddress class will receive a TypeInitializationException

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for "System.Net.Sockets.Socket" threw an exception. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InitializeSockets() at System.Net.Sockets.Socket..cctor()

The reason for this error is

When you install a protocol or a network adapter on your computer, the operating system creates a protocol binding between the network adapters and the protocols that are installed on your computer. Typically, a computer can store up to 50 protocol binding details. Therefore, if the number of protocol bindings exceeds 50, and you use the IPAddress class directly or indirectly (such as when you try to add a Web reference or when you call a Web service method), you receive the error messages that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

To resolve this problem you must reduce the number of protocols binding on your computer to less than 50. Follow the following steps

1. Start->Settings-> Network and Dial-up Connections and right click any existing connection

2. Properties-> Select an unused protocol select uninstall

3. Click on yes to the propmpt

If you are trying to open Microsoft MapPoint Web Service Software Development Kit (SDK) version 4.1 in visual studio 2005 or higher visual studio will upgrade the project and you will receive the following error message

ERROR: Unable to get local copy of file web references\mappointservice\reference.cs.

This error is comming because visual studio 2005 includes additional features for visual c#.net and vb.net which were not present in earlier versions of visual studio. Other reason is upgrade wizard does not correctly convert the mappoint SDK sample projects.

To resolve this

* Start visual studio 2005

* On the File menu, point to Open, and then click Project/Solution.

* Locate the project file (.csproj or .vbproj) that you want to open, and then
click Open.

* In Solution Explorer, right-click the name of the project, and then click Add
Web Reference.

* In the URL box, type the following URL:
http://staging.mappoint.net/standard-30/mappoint.wsdl
Click Go.

* Click Add Reference.

* Right-click the project, and then click Rebuild Solution.

Access Denied error message in web service

When trying call a web service you may receive the error message as

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current Web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

The reason for this error is if the anonymous authentication is turned off you must give credentials before calling the web service. To resolve this issue you must use the credential property of the web service client proxy to set the security credentials for web service client authentication.

The ways to resolve this issue is explained below.

Assign the default credentials to the credential property of the webservice proxy class. To do this follow the following code.

myProxy.Credentials= System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;

Use the CredentialCache class to providecredentials for webservice client authentication. To do this first create an object CredentialCache class and again create an object of NetworkCredential which uses the specified username and password. To do this follow the following code.

HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

The error is comming usually when you try to access microsoft internet information service 6.0 website which is configurred to use windows authentication only, you may be prompted for your user credentials. When try to logon will receive logon prompt again. After trying to logon several times will receive the error message.

The situation which causes this error is

IIS 6.0 website is part of IIS application pool and the application pool is running under a local account or under domain user account. And the wesite is confugurred to use windows authentication.

To resolve this problem follow the steps below

1. Install the Setspn.exe tool from the following website

If you have multiple application pools which all run under domain user accounts then you must force iis to use NLM as your authentication mechanism. To do this follow the following steps

1. Start->run->cmd

2. change the directory to which contains Adsutil.vbs. By default it will be.

C:\Inetpub\Adminscripts.

3. Type the following command and pres enter.

cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/NTAuthenticationProviders "NTLM"
4. to verify that the Ntauthenticationproviders metabase property is set to NTLM type the following command.

cscript adsutil.vbs get w3svc/NTAuthenticationProviders

Then it should return

Hi All,

When i was doing a web application using Asp.net 2.0 framework and c#.net. And at first the page postback was the major problem because the user was losing more by waiting for page postbacks. In this situation i started using Ajax.

I download Microsoft Ajax Extensions dll and added it into my toolbox. And i added scriptmanager into my page. And below scriptmanager i placed updatepanel. And in updatepanel i arranged my controls.

Now the problem started is when running the asp.net website no build error is comming. But when page load finishes a javascript error icon is in the left corner of the screen. When clicking on the javascript error the message is

'Sys' is undefined

And still the page is postbacking. And i checked lots of ways including removing all references and add again etc. But no effect.

At last i found the problem is in my web.config. So what i did is i downloaded microsoft ajax setup and installed into my system. After installing ajax web taking asp.net 2005 theire will an option in new website as microsoft ajax enabled website. Open one Microsoft ajax enabled website and use its webconfig for my application and now the sys is undefined error gone
